Skate Safe America’s Zero Tolerance Policy
What is Zero Tolerance?
For players:
A minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (Zero Tolerance) shall be assessed whenever a player:
1) Openly disputes or argues with a referee.
2) Uses obscene or vulgar language, including swearing at any time
3) Visually demonstrates any sign of dissatisfaction with any referee’s decision.
Any time that any player persists in any of these actions, he/she shall be assessed a misconduct Penalty. A Game Misconduct shall result if such player continues. Any person who uses racist, homophobic, sexist or any other language deemed offensive by management will be grounds for suspension and permanent expulsion.
ANY PLAYER WHO USES THEIR STICK AS A WEAPON TO ATTEMPT TO INJURE ANOTHER PLAYER WILL BE PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY BY SKATE SAFE AMERICA.
For coaches:
A Bench Minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (Zero Tolerance) shall be assessed whenever a coach:
1) Openly disputes or argues with a referee.
2) Uses obscene or vulgar language, including swearing at any time.
3) Visually displays any sign of dissatisfaction with a referee’s decision.
This includes standing on the boards or standing in the bench doorway with the intent of inciting the referees, players, or spectators.
Any time that a Coach persists in any of these actions, he/she shall be assessed a Game Misconduct Penalty.
For parents/spectators:
1) Openly disputes or argues about any decision by a referee.
2) Uses obscene or vulgar language, including swearing at any time.
3) Visually displays any sign of dissatisfaction with a referee’s decision,
4) Arguing with and/or making physical contact with another spectator before, during, or after any games on the premises.
5) Screams or yells at an opposing player, coach, game official or any employees of Skate Safe America.
If the officials at the rink including management and employees believe that the actions of the spectators or players are in any way interfering with the enjoyment of the game being played by the players, the enjoyment of the other spectators at the rink, they will be asked to exit the premises. They may also be told they are not welcome to come back to the rink. Skate Safe America has full control over who may or may not be permitted within the confines of the facility once a spectator/player/coach/parent has participated in any of the above actions that breaks the zero-tolerance policy at Skate Safe America.
Why Zero Tolerance?
To make hockey games a more desirable and rewarding experience for all participants and to adhere to certain points of emphasis relating to sportsmanship. These points were written and implemented to maintain a fun, safe, and sportsmanlike atmosphere before, during and after all Skate Safe America sanctioned games.
