*** SKATE SAFE AMERICA YOUTH DEK HOCKEY WINTER LEAGUE 2024/2025***
Age Groups: We will have 2 age groups 8U & 12U with 4 teams per age group. A player's age on January 1st will determine what age group they will fall into for the season.
League Format: All games will be played with five players & a goalie per side. Games are played in 2 22-minute periods. With a stopped clock under 2 minutes if the game is within 2 goals or less. All teams will play a minimum of 8 games including at least 1 playoff game. Rosters are a maximum of 13 players and 1 goalie.
League Fee: $185for players for 8 games including one playoff game.
AAU Membership: Required to play. $18 online (playAAUsports.org).
Jerseys: Skate Safe home and away jerseys are $35 per set and are required to play. Players may use previously purchased Skate Safe jerseys. They may use these jerseys for any league run by Skate Safe America.
Scheduling: All of our leagues will take place from 11AM-5PM on Sundays. Games are scheduled to start November 24th and conclude with our Stanley Cup games in early February.
Team Formation: Teams are formed by Skate Safe as evenly as possible by our staff. We do reserve the right to have players switch teams to try to make the games as competitive as possible. We will try to accommodate any requests but cannot guarantee it.
Equipment: Helmets must have a full; face shield/cage, shin pads, elbow pads, gloves, hockey stick and running shoes are required. Mouth guards and cups are highly suggested, but not mandatory.
Coaching: We are always looking for parents to volunteer to coach who are good role models for the game. *** Please add into comments if you are interested in coaching when you register your child***

Rules: There will be no icing, and minor penalties will be 2 minutes each. Teams will have 1 timeout per game.
Regular season games if tied will go straight to a shootout of 3 rounds, and playoff games will have a 5-minute overtime before a shootout. The championship game, if tied, will go to unlimited 10-minute overtimes until a goal is scored.
